PR1 promoter RUBY HSP

This reporter construct consists of the PR1 promoter, the RUBY reporter and the Arabidopsis thaliana HSP terminator. It is used to express RUBY in a pathogen stress induced manner. PR1 gene expression is heavily induced upon pathogen attack[1]. RUBY is an expression cassette that consists of CYP76AD1, DODA, and a glycosyltransferase[2]. These enzymes catalyze the conversion of tyrosine into betalain. Betalain exhibits a red color. Therefore plants transformed with this construct should exhibit a red color, when infected by pathogens.
